TOP 25 white dog breeds: list with descriptions and photos, features, advantages and disadvantages

White dogs are admired. They captivate at first sight. Snow-white wool gives unique elegance. But to keep the animal always clean, additional care is required. Most white dogs begin to shed several times a year. They need to be constantly combed and sometimes bathed. Beginner breeders are attracted to their beautiful fluffy coat. However, before you get such a four-legged friend, you must first study the character traits of the chosen breed.

It is very important to understand that attractive appearance is not the main thing in choosing an animal. After all, an animal is not purchased for beauty. It must perform certain functions: guard the house, become a loyal friend, or perform at dog shows.

Akbash

A huge dog with a calm disposition. Americans trust her to guard their ranches. High withers and elastic skin on the neck allow the dog to engage in battle with any predator. Akbash is distinguished by a shaggy tail and sometimes a fluffy mane. The long body and beautiful slender paws give the dog a beautiful appearance.

The purebred Akbash is distinguished by its white coat, which retains its purity for a long time. The short coat does not require frequent brushing. Once every seven days is enough. You need to bathe your dog when it is very dirty.

Slovak dude

To raise a dude to be a devoted friend and protector, you need to know two things about him. First, he doesn’t trust anyone except his owners. Therefore, the puppy needs to be socialized from a very early age. And secondly, by nature he is a born leader, so the fact that he understood your command does not mean at all that he will rush to carry it out. Training this breed requires a lot of effort and time. But if the dog is raised correctly, there is no one more devoted to his family than him.

Once a week, the dude’s coat needs to be combed, and he should be bathed as needed. He sheds quite intensively, during this period he needs to be scratched every other day. It doesn't get wet in the rain and doesn't freeze in the wind. There is not enough space for the dude in the apartment. He feels better outside the city.

American Eskimo Spitz

There are several known dog sizes:

  • that;
  • miniature;
  • standard.

The strong animal has a slightly elongated body and a wide back. Its muzzle resembles a fox. The small, proportional head is decorated with erect ears and black eyes. The Spitz's nose protrudes slightly forward. The lobe must be black.

Beautiful, fluffy, absolutely white fur is considered the calling card of a dog. The Eskimo Spitz requires constant care, as the coat often gets dirty and stops shining. The dog sheds twice during the year. Breeders do not recommend bathing your Spitz often. The natural fat is washed off and the dog’s skin begins to dry out.

Training

This is an excellent companion who understands everything without words. Samoyeds often show deep affection towards their family members. These are very smart dogs that pick up everything on the fly. They remain alert and active until old age.

The Samoyed is an incredibly smart breed, so if you spend enough time with it and train it, there will be no problems. They listen well to the owner, and he does not have to resort to rough methods of education. Many breeders advise teaching your dog the “ Quiet ” command, since Samoyeds can be very vocal.

Pomeranian Spitz

A dwarf breed with strong muscles. The height at the withers reaches 18-22 cm. The small, wedge-shaped head is decorated with triangular erect ears. Dark eyes are oval in shape. The upper jaw overlaps the lower jaw, creating a scissor bite. The strong neck has a slightly arched shape.

The snow-white fur is quite thick. Moreover, tangles do not form. There is no need to comb the dog. Thanks to the dense undercoat, falling hair does not adhere to the skin. Pomeranians do not shed seasonally. The dog does not require frequent bathing, as the skin may dry out.

Lhasa apso

Lhasa Apso is included in the list of the most ancient breeds.
Small long-haired dogs served as guards in ancient Tibetan monasteries, barking to announce the approach of strangers. The breed gave rise to other Asian decorative dogs and came to Europe in 1929. The height of the Lhasa Apso ranges from 22 cm in females to 28 cm in males. The long, heavy coat grows to the ground and completely covers the dog. The guard hair is straight, hard, does not fluff or curl. The drooping ears are framed by long hair.

Chihuahua

  • Height: from 15 to 25 cm
  • Weight: from 1.8 to 2.7 kg
  • Life expectancy: 12 to 20 years

The Chihuahua is considered the smallest purebred dog in the world. But hidden within their tiny bodies is a brave and daring protector , which likely helped the breed survive in difficult Mexican conditions.

Interesting fact: the Chihuahua is the national dog of Mexico, named after the Mexican state of the same name, where the breed was first discovered in the mid-19th century.

Chihuahuas are known to be somewhat temperamental and impatient, and are not an ideal dog for families with small children. They do not tolerate being played with or treated too harshly. Chihuahuas may claw a child if they feel threatened or afraid. Many owners also report that these dogs prefer to be the only pet in the house . They like to be the center of the family and set the tone.

The Komondor may look like a mop with four legs, but underneath that long coat is a big dog with a huge personality. He is smart, independent and a great defender. His favorite pastime is watching his family. This creates some problems. First, it can be annoying to have a dog sit and stare at you all day long. On the other hand, the Komondor's protective instincts and suspicious nature can lead to trouble (and lawsuits) if your dog attacks someone it perceives as a threat.

Obviously, this dog needs to be properly socialized and raised. The Komondor is capable of being aggressive towards other dogs, but can have excellent relationships with cats and livestock.

History of the origin of the breed

The White Swiss Shepherd or BShO is a direct descendant of German Shepherds. White puppies are rare, but can still be seen in litters today. At the beginning of the 20th century, dog breeders in Europe decided that such puppies were a waste, so they tried to get rid of them quickly. German breeders believed that the color of the coat affected the animal's abilities and suppressed its characteristic intellectual abilities.

The dogs brought to the USA, on the contrary, gained great popularity and were soon recognized as an independent breed called the “White German” or “American-Canadian” Shepherd. American breeders quickly realized that white working dogs were in no way inferior to their colored counterparts, and sometimes even surpassed them in intelligence and speed of training.

It's funny, but the first official representative of the breed was brought to Switzerland from America. A cable named Lobo Barch is the progenitor of all modern Swiss dogs. In the sixties, the breed was officially registered as an independent breed; crossing with Germans became prohibited in order to preserve the unique coat color. The name was given from the new place of residence of the first ancestor of the Swiss dog, in addition, it emphasized the kinship of German dogs, since the countries share a common border.

This ancient breed typically weighs between 22.5 and 27.5 kg and was originally used for hunting large prey. These dogs have flowing fur and are considered by many to be one of the most beautiful dog breeds in the world!

The luxurious curls of Afghan hounds require significant care, and their freedom-loving nature is difficult to curb without special training and socialization. But despite their independence and a certain aloofness, these dogs are very sensitive and love to show their affection to those they love most. Afghan Hounds make wonderful companions for experienced dog owners who are ready for a long training period.

Kishu

The Maltese is one of the most gentle breeds of small dogs, but they are also full of energy and very playful, making them a great family dog.
