Negative aspects of an animal

— In our family, Roy has become a real compromise dog. At one time, my husband wanted to get a representative of a larger breed - a Rottweiler or an Amstaff, but I dreamed of something small and compact, like a pug. No one wanted to give in, and then we decided to choose a breed that would combine the features of all these dogs. Soon such a breed was found, and a German boxer fit perfectly into the image.

— Roy is everyone’s favorite and an invariably bright element of our daily life. Difficulties with him arose only in the first year of life, when the puppy grew up, gradually delving into our “rules of the game.” For the successful adaptation of the baby, we had to pay with the integrity of the linoleum, a pair of my boots and some other small things that now remain only in our memories. But gradually Roy grew up and became comfortable, turning into an exceptionally obedient and well-mannered pet. I even call him a big cat, for his soft movements and love for sleep. Roy has many favorite toys, and when we return from work, he always carries one of them in his mouth as a kind of greeting. At the same time, he clearly separates what is permitted and what is forbidden - we calmly leave food on the table, and it never disappears from there. In general, he loves to play and show off, we even have a special command: “Who’s wagging his butt here?”, after which Roy begins to masterfully write out a lambada with his butt...

- Great! Tell us about caring for a boxer. In appearance, he doesn’t seem to look like a “problem” dog, but perhaps there are still some “pitfalls” in this matter?
- That’s right, the German boxer doesn’t give us any problems at all. No grooming or frequent bathing - these are naturally very clean animals. Trimming nails - only if the dog doesn’t walk enough, we don’t have a problem with this, so the nails wear down naturally. I would like to separately note only two points. Firstly, this is ear cropping, which is a very responsible procedure. However, we did not stop our Swarm; now this is not a mandatory condition. Secondly, purchasing clothes for the winter. The lack of long hair and dense undercoat also has a downside - without additional “devices” the dog freezes. Therefore, at least one overall is necessary in case of extreme cold. In general, this is all the difficulties. Yes, one more thing – but this is not a problem, but a recommended condition. Despite its menacing appearance, the boxer is not a kennel dog at all. This guy loves comfort, especially next to his owner, so the best place for him is on the couch next to you.

For example, we were never able to create a suitable menu from “natural food”; Roy’s body accepted only the industrial food “Pro Plan”. But this is by no means a recommendation for owners of this breed; it is likely that their pet will have completely different preferences.

Perhaps this is what allowed Roy to reveal his own individuality instead of aggression. You know, this is a very domestic dog. Especially as a child, he did not like long walks, but how can he explain this to his owners? Then Roy began to artificially limp when walking, as if he had injured his leg. Of course, at first we immediately returned home, until we realized that the pet was injured too often)).

He's still a cunning guy. For example, Roy is capable of setting other dogs up - this is not a joke now. Once on the street we came across a wounded pigeon. Roy, knowing that such “prey” should not be grabbed, avoided him. However, then we met a neighbor leading her two boxer girls on a leash. At that moment, Roy approached one of them, Rimma, and, as if by chance, led her to the dove, without hinting at anything... Rima reacted to the “prey” more naturally, grabbing the dove in her teeth. With the fluttering bird she immediately took off, followed by her angry owner. And at that moment Roy was spinning on his feet, showing me with all his appearance that he was not like that, he was obedient. Can you imagine what it's like?! )) And it was not just an accident, the next time he pulled a similar trick with a young shepherd dog, only instead of a dove there was a bone. The shepherd's owner was the first to see the bone and hid it from his foolish pet, but Roy kindly helped his young friend find the bone. Having created another prank and admiring its results, my pet... smiled! You can’t believe it, but boxers really have very rich facial expressions - I swear that I saw something like a grin on his cunning face!
However, apart from insidious intrigues, this guy is no longer dangerous in any way - his only fight took place with two furious ninja cats, from which my striped guard hid in fear behind my back.
