Great Danes are descendants of mastiffs and molossians - large dogs with a wrinkled muzzle, a strong skeleton and incredible strength. History says that they appeared on the territory of Europe thanks to the Roman colonialists, who brought Tibetan and other Asian dogs from the east.
All Great Danes are characterized by large and gigantic sizes (from 60 cm at the withers to 110 cm). Different breeds were used for different purposes: hunting, guarding, sport, herding livestock, transporting carts. Now Mastiffs are famous for their good nature, friendliness and loyalty. They are ready to make any sacrifice to protect their family.
Initially, in Europe, all large dogs with long legs were called Great Danes, later real breeds were formed.
