General information

The drug Dosalid is used for deworming dogs. It destroys parasites at any stage of development. The drug is available in the form of tablets in two versions: weighing 300 mg (brown tablets) and weighing 1200 mg (orange tablets). Dosalid tablets are packaged in pairs in blisters, which are placed in a cardboard box along with instructions for use.

Boxes with the drug come in different sizes, they can contain from one to 50 blisters, i.e. from two to one hundred tablets. The developer of this medicine is the American company Zoetis.

Did you know? Pumpkin seeds contain substances called cucurbitins - they are a good anthelmintic.

Reviews from dog breeders

The drug Dosalid is liked by owners of both large dogs and small dogs.
Svetlana, Kazan. I have a Saint Bernard, and there are always problems with conventional anthelmintic medications. It is difficult to give tablets that are too small; the dog cannot tolerate them. I started buying large Dosalid tablets, the problem disappeared. The price suits me, I use it only for prevention.

Danila, Moscow. The size of regular worming tablets has always seemed inconvenient to me. I have a toy poodle, and I had to worry all the time that I would give more or less medicine than needed. The pharmacy recommended Dosalid. It turned out that the brand has very small tablets, just for mini dogs. Now I don’t know grief, I give each one a pill. By the way, they swallow it themselves, without even resisting.

Irina, Omsk. I bought Dosalid by chance, the price was right, and the seller at the pharmacy praised it. It’s a good product and doesn’t give any side effects. I give it to my dog every season, as it should be. There has never been any vomiting or diarrhea, the dog’s tests are good. So these are good tablets, I recommend them.

Pharmacological properties

"Dosalid" acts on worms developing in the dog's intestines. These are different types of nematodes (roundworms) and cestodes (tapeworms). The drug is practically not absorbed by body tissues, that is, it does not penetrate from the intestines further into the dog’s body. It is excreted from the body along with feces.

The active substances of Dosalid paralyze nematodes, which ensures their death. In addition, it disrupts glucose metabolism in cestodes, which ultimately causes their death. In this case, all parasites die - from those at the larval stage to adult individuals.

Preventive measures

Lactating females are dewormed for preventive purposes. First two weeks after the puppies are born. Then every two weeks until the end of lactation.

Puppies are given tablets for the first time at 2 weeks of age, then once a month until 6 months, then every year.

Adult dogs also undergo professional measurements: Dosalid is administered every six months. But if the risk of infection increases (feeding raw food, eating feces, drinking water from a puddle...), Dosalid can be administered more frequently, after 3-4 months. To remove worm eggs, a second dose is required after 14 days.

And before vaccination (two weeks before), it is necessary to drive away worms. Vaccinating invasive animals can be dangerous and may make the condition worse.

If an infestation is detected (to do this, feces are tested for eggworms, preferably several times in a row), the administration of the drug must be repeated after two weeks.

In case of severe infection, it is better to contact a veterinary clinic, since intensive control of worms can provoke a massive death rate, which can lead to serious weakening of the dog’s body.

Particular attention should be paid when infected with the Toxocara Canis species. Toxocaryosis is severe, with repeated outbreaks of relapse. In this case, there is a need to administer the drug at intervals of just a few days.

Dogs living in kennels are easily susceptible to massive infections. Sometimes deworming all dogs without exception is the best solution to the problem. New arrivals (and animals are most vulnerable when under stress) are quarantined.

Instructions and dosage by age

The drug is administered orally. Before use, there is no need to keep your pet without food for a certain time and clean its intestines. It is recommended to give the medicine before or after feeding; you can mix the drug into the food.

Depending on the weight of the pet, various tablet options are used: 300 mg for dogs weighing from 1 to 13 kg inclusive, 1200 mg for pets weighing from 14 kg. According to the instructions, the dose of Dosalid is prescribed at the rate of 10.5 mg of active substances in the drug per kilogram of animal weight.

Thus, the calculated doses of the drugs are as follows:

  • with an animal weight of 1-2 kg - half a 300 mg tablet;
  • with a weight of 3-4 kg - 1 tablet. 300 mg;
  • with a weight of 5-6 kg - 1.5 tablets. 300 mg;
  • with a weight of 7-9 kg - 2 tablets. 300 mg;
  • with a weight of 10-13 kg - 3 tablets. 300 mg;
  • with a weight of 14-18 kg - 1 tablet. 1200 mg;
  • with a weight of 19-27 kg - 1.5 tablets. 1200 mg;
  • with a weight of 28-36 kg - 2 tables. 1200 mg;
  • with a weight of 37-54 kg - 3 tables. 1200 mg;
  • with a weight of 55 kg - 4 tables. 1200 mg.

Important! It is advisable to carry out the deworming procedure simultaneously for puppies and the females nursing them.

Infection with worms

When picking up a tasty morsel from the ground or getting to know its fellow tribesmen, a dog can become infected with helminths, which are known to everyone as worms.
There are many other factors that threaten such infection. There are many types of worms, but the most common in our country are:

  • roundworms;
  • esophageal (esophageal);
  • whip-shaped;
  • tape and others.

At first glance, the condition of a sick animal seems harmless, but if you get to know these parasites more closely, it becomes clear that only constant observation and systematic treatment can preserve the health of a pet, and perhaps life.

The seriousness of the disease also lies in the fact that people, including children, are at risk of becoming infected with worms from animals, and therefore the fight against them must be severe.

Purpose

  • arthritis;
  • arthrosis;
  • synovitis;
  • tendovaginitis;
  • injuries - fractures, dislocations, sprains, ligament ruptures.

It effectively relieves pain and prevents the development of secondary infections in the postoperative period. In the latter case, the medicine is administered twice - before the operation and in the postoperative period.

Important! The medicine has restrictions on its use, so it cannot be used for self-medication.

Joint diseases

Dogs often suffer from arthritis. This is an inflammatory disease of the joints that can affect animals of any age and breed, but most often affects large or, conversely, dwarf dogs.

Based on the nature of the damaging factors, several types of disease are distinguished:

  • traumatic arthritis - is a consequence of bruises, joint injuries, increased physical activity;
  • functional – develops with irrational load on the joints during training;
  • purulent - becomes a consequence of infectious diseases;
  • dystrophic – accompanies metabolic disorders in the body.

Sometimes the disease is genetically determined: hereditary factors cause disturbances in the pet’s body.

All inflammatory processes in the joints are accompanied by severe pain, which is why the dog has a tense gait: the pet, trying to avoid pain, steps very carefully on the limb. Onsior acts quickly, suppressing the activity of inflammatory enzymes. Arthrosis has a different nature

This is a destructive process that occurs in the joint, the destruction of cartilage tissue in the joint capsule. The process is long-term and chronic, and often a veterinarian is consulted already at those stages of the disease when it is no longer possible to stop the pathology.

Arthrosis has a different nature. This is a destructive process that occurs in the joint, the destruction of cartilage tissue in the joint capsule. The process is long-term and chronic, and often a veterinarian is consulted already at those stages of the disease when it is no longer possible to stop the pathology.

Arthrosis is considered an age-related disease - which is due to changes occurring in the body of an aging dog. However, with increased physical activity, excessive mobility, and the presence of hereditary factors, the destruction of cartilage tissue in the joints can begin much earlier. It is impossible to restore cartilage, you can only slow down the process, and Onsior is prescribed to alleviate the condition of a pet, for which every movement can cause pain.

Synovitis also refers to inflammatory diseases. Inflammation in the knee or shoulder joint is characterized by a decrease in motor activity, an increase in general and local body temperature, and swelling of the affected area. When treated with Onsior, the inflammation subsides after 5-7 days, the exudate resolves, and the dog’s motor activity is restored. With a protracted process, the connective tissue in the joint grows, and mobility may be limited.

Tenosynovitis

– this is an inflammation of the tendon sheath that develops as a result of injuries, infections, and the transfer of purulent processes from neighboring tissues. The most dangerous is purulent tenosynovitis, which is caused by pathogenic microorganisms: streptococci, staphylococci, E. coli, etc.

Injuries - dislocations and fractures, sprains and torn ligaments are always accompanied by pain. Due to the fact that Onsior begins to act on the source of pain quickly, the drug is often used for first aid, and throughout the entire period of treatment for pain relief.

The drug "Sividal" - price and where to buy at the pharmacy?

But this time I decided to check the effect of Sividal, which caused many controversial debates. You can buy and find out the price of the drug at a discount at the manufacturer's pharmacy. Like most dietary supplements, it is not sold in regular pharmacies due to the large price increase.

I ordered the drug 2 months ago as part of a promotion. Purchasing directly from the manufacturer cost me 1,600 rubles and kopecks (for 4 packages).

My result:

  • General health has improved;
  • I lost 3 kg, although I didn’t set such a goal;
  • I go to the toilet every day without any problems, like clockwork;
  • The condition of the skin and hair has visually improved;
  • More strength and energy appeared. Usually autumn and winter have a negative effect on me, I, like flies, fall into suspended animation;
  • Hemoglobin levels increased. The last figure was around 108, a week ago I took a blood test and it was 126.

In general, the impressions are positive, you can test the effect of the drug on yourself and confirm my opinion.
