Gina dog food: reviews and composition overview

Gina Dog Food Review

Our review section has already covered many super-premium foods, but not all of them. And now we will correct this by reviewing another dry dog food - Gina. It is produced in Canada (Elite line), Thailand (canned food Gina, Mi-Mi and X-Dog) and Denmark to Russian order for Russian consumers - as it is written on the official Gina website www.gina.ru.

Composition of Gina dog food

The compositions indicated below were taken from the official website of the food and verified with those indicated on the packaging. As you can see, the composition of the food from the Elit line is much richer than the composition of the food from the regular line. In the first, we see in the first places chicken meat (more than 43%), lamb meat, salmon fillet, chicken liver, chicken fat, and then the sources of carbohydrates - rice, oats, barley. In the second they are already from second to fourth place.

However, if we look at the composition of even the second option (Dog Classic), we will not see other sources of protein (except chicken meat and northern fish fillet), which means that the indicated 26% of the protein in the analysis is of animal origin. However, only in the Elit line we will find vegetables, fruits and even herbs. It also uses a natural preservative, which is not listed in Classic.

In fact, Gina Elite food is definitely a super-premium class, and Gina Classic is still a premium class but with real meat (most premiums use “meat and by-products,” such as Brit Premium food).

Pros and cons of Gina food

Among the advantages of the food:

  • using meat rather than offal;
  • wide range (dry food, canned food, hypoallergenic food, etc.);
  • affordable price, especially the regular line;
  • natural preservative (at least in the Elite line).

The disadvantages include:

  • In general, the regular line does not have a very rich composition;
  • It is not available in all pet stores (but buying Gina food on the Internet is not a problem).

Wet food "Gina"

Gina canned food is a wet food whose main ingredient is tuna. The flavor options for this food are a combination of tuna with other ingredients (chicken, sardines, beef, vegetables and squid). Pouches with a volume of 85 g are sold at a price of 50 rubles per bag.

The veterinarian explained to me that even the highest quality wet food cannot be used as the main diet. The calorie content of canned food is almost 10 times lower than that of “drying”. It is also not recommended to mix Gina wet food with other brands of crickets. The ideal option is a combination of canned food and crickets of the same brand. And from my own experience, I know that you need to be especially careful with wet food. Opened jars and pouches cannot be stored for more than a day, even in the refrigerator.

Wet food "Gina" is different combinations of tuna in sauce or jelly

Veterinary ruler

“Gina” does not have a separate veterinary diet. Some cat owners choose this brand of food along with another diet. However, for this you need to consult a veterinarian. For example, a sterilized cat can be given low-calorie food Gina Elit, and if the animal has some kind of disease, it may require medications.

Does the brand have cat treats?

Cat owners can choose Gina canned food as a treat. In this case, you can take into account the pet’s taste preferences and its physiological characteristics.

Gina dog food - reviews

Review of Gina Elite dog food, writes Polina. Hello. We have a 6-month-old hound, we feed her Gina for small and medium breeds Small & Medium Breed Adult, so far she is happy with it. Activity, appearance, output - everything is normal. The only caveat is that the granules are a little small, but the dog still chews them rather than swallowing them. Also, my friend’s cat eats Gina, and no complaints either.
