Feed composition
Analysis using Brit Care Sensitive as an example.
The cost of packaging 3 kg is 1390 rubles.
The main goal of manufacturers is to make the food hypoallergenic and digestible. Therefore, we developed a monoprotein feed mixture in which the only source of animal protein is venison. The meat is considered hypoallergenic because no growth stimulants or protein additives that increase weight gain were used in the deer’s diet.
Second place goes to potatoes, which contain slow starch that does not cause fermentation in the intestines. There is little protein in the root vegetable, but its amino acid composition is optimal. High Quality. The food does not contain cereal grains, and therefore gluten, to which hypersensitive animals develop allergies.
Dried apple contains pectins, the so-called soluble fiber or dietary fiber. They cleanse the intestines of toxic deposits and remove them from the body. The combined use of chicken and fish oil creates an optimal ratio of important biologically active components - Omega 3;6 fatty acids.
Brewer's yeast is rich in B vitamins; its walls contain polysaccharides that are accessible only to the enzymes of lactic acid bacteria of the large intestine. Such properties are called prebiotic. The feed mixture included mannan-oligosaccharides, inulin, and fructo-oligosaccharides. They nourish beneficial microflora, which covers the intestinal mucosa with a multi-level layer and does not allow putrefactive bacteria to attach.
The feed mixture contains flavorings, which ones are not reported. Perhaps we are talking about rosemary, cloves, and citrus, which also have antioxidant properties. Phytocomponents sanitize the mouth and prevent the formation of urinary stones. Crustacean shells and cartilage extract are chondroprotectors. They help restore the cartilaginous surfaces of articular joints and prevent the development of arthritis in large or elderly dogs.
Yucca Schidigera is a deodorant that converts foul-smelling ammonia compounds into non-odorous compounds. The smell of your pet's feces is greatly reduced. Milk thistle or milk thistle is a powerful hepatoprotector that helps remove toxic metabolites from the liver.
The feed mixture included a complex of microelements and vitamins - metabolic catalysts. The food mixture contains a moderate amount of proteins, fats and calories, therefore, it is intended for pets leading a calm, measured life. The relatively high fiber content stimulates intestinal motility and keeps your dog feeling full.
In terms of the composition of components and concentration of nutrients, Brit Care Sensitive food corresponds to the class of holistic food.
The comparative nutritional characteristics of individual Brit care products are shown in the table:
general characteristics
The basis of Brit Premium dry food is chicken. This type of meat was not chosen by chance, because it contains a lot of useful components. In addition to chicken, the compositions contain many natural ingredients: fruits, vegetables, herbs. Wet diets may contain turkey, lamb, and fish.
Brit Pet Food products can be found in veterinary pharmacies and pet stores. Prices are budget.
The volume of packages with dry product is 3, 8 and 15 kilograms, wet rations are produced in two variations - 340 and 850 g.
Why dry food?
Let's first briefly talk about the benefits of dry food. With them on the market, more and more dog breeders are giving them preference and there are reasons for this:
- The first, of course, is convenience and you can’t argue with that (pour in the food and it’s all done);
- Dry food is an easy way to provide your dog with balanced, nutritious nutrition (at least premium food). With them, you don’t need to worry too much about whether your pet has received all the vitamins, microelements and nutrients - you can be sure that everything;
- If necessary, you can choose a therapeutic or special diet that will meet the needs of your pet at a certain period of its life (pregnancy, illness, active loads, obesity, allergies, etc.);
- Feeding industrial products is more profitable from a financial point of view. The amount of dry dog food per day is incomparably less than the volume of a nutritious “lunch” made from natural products and its cost.
- And finally, saving time that will have to be spent on cooking every day.
Brit Fresh Chicken with Potato Puppy Healthy Growth
Dog Chow: food for dogs and puppies of large and small breeds
Healthy growth of puppies is the first thing an owner should pay attention to. To ensure they grow healthy and strong, veterinarians recommend using special Brit premium dog food. This product contains chicken and potatoes. They provide the young body with useful nutrients: proteins, fats, carbohydrates, fiber, vitamins and minerals. Moreover, the manufacturer considered it necessary to balance the elements so that they have a more significant effect on the young body.
The advantages of this food include:
- natural composition;
- no dyes, flavors or artificial preservatives;
- food helps the puppy gain optimal weight;
- the presence of nutrients necessary for growth and development.
Is it possible to feed a dog only dry food all the time?
Many people worry about whether it is possible to constantly feed the dog only dry food? Some, fearing the possible consequences of such a monotonous diet, try to diversify their pet’s diet by mixing food from their own table into the bowl. Let's try to understand the consequences of this approach.
Mixed nutrition and its consequences
- Dry food + meat = excess protein. Protein overfeeding puts a strain on the kidneys, which subsequently leads to kidney failure, provokes degenerative changes in the liver, and can also cause allergies.
- Dry food + fish = excess phosphorus. Excessive intake of microelements contributes to the development of urolithiasis. As a result of accumulation, the liver and intestines are affected, anemia develops, the number of leukocytes decreases, and minor hemorrhages appear. Bone tissues lose calcium and accumulate phosphates, which leads to the development of osteoporosis, and in puppies to rickets.
- Dry food + porridge = excess carbohydrates. As a result, excess weight gain and related problems.
- With a mixed type of diet, owners “terrorize” the gastrointestinal tract, which provokes the development of chronic gastritis.
Treats are not contraindicated when feeding dry food. You can give pieces of finely chopped cheese, boiled meat, dried fruits or crackers.
Risks associated with mono-feeding
Ok, we’ve sorted out a little about the mixed type of nutrition. But what about feeding your dog only dry food? What risks might there be with this approach? For example, there is a myth that dry food negatively affects the gastric mucosa, gradually destroying it. The answer here is obvious - if dry food were harmful to dogs, it would not be produced in millions of tons around the world. Before producing this or that food, technologists develop it, test it for palatability in animals, conduct laboratory tests for safety and a host of other indicators. This also applies to inexpensive food and holistic food. Moreover, dry food is developed primarily for mono-feeding - that is, it is initially assumed that they will be fed only with them, and not added to the food as a “yummy”.
Diseases in animals are another matter - dogs, like people, have their own sores and weaknesses, and this must be taken into account. Problems with the gastrointestinal tract are also not uncommon, and if your veterinarian recommended giving up dry food, then this certainly needs to be done.

Feeding standards for dogs
The norms for feeding dogs with dry food are individual indicators. They depend on several factors: food class, dog size, physiological condition, activity and age.
Feed class and energy value
Industrially produced feeds are conventionally divided into 4 classes, which differ in the quality of ingredients used in production, balance, nutritional and energy value (Kcal/100g).
- Economy class feed has an energy value of 250-300 Kcal. They are made from low quality products and require the introduction of vitamin and mineral supplements into the diet.
- Premium class has a nutritional value of 300-350 Kcal. Its advantage is an increase in the amount of animal proteins in the form of by-products and waste, as well as the inclusion of vitamins and microelements.
- Super-premium food is a balanced, complete diet suitable for regular feeding. Energy value 360-450 Kcal.
- Holistic class food with an energy value of 360-450 Kcal differs from the super-premium class in that it is produced from the highest quality products approved for the food industry.
Thus, the amount of dry dog food per day for super-premium class will be slightly less than the volume of economy-class food due to its high nutritional and energy value.
Feeding frequency
Puppies are fed more often than adult dogs. This rule applies to any type of nutrition.

Reviews
Lisa, Kazan
“I am the owner of a large one-year-old Shar Pei. I was attracted to Brit by the price, so I decided to try it and bought the Junior series food with chicken meat. After carefully studying the composition, I realized that I was mistaken. The contents of the product do not correspond to the declared class: there are few useful additives, what part of the meat is used is not indicated, etc. I will not buy it again.”
Sofia, Omsk
“I used to buy Royal Canin with turkey and rice, I thought it was the best diet for animals. 7 years passed, the Yorkie began to age, and the Royal Canin series for older dogs caused problems with stool. While looking for a replacement, I came across Brit Premium, bought it, and gave it to Kerry to try. He didn't show interest right away, but then he started eating with pleasure. The product worked and did not cause any side effects. I was pleased with the packaging. I will continue to buy Brit.”
Oleg, Krasnodar
“Brit has a small selection of products, I would like more variety. But the price and composition are pleasing: a lot of meat, no harmful additives. I have a Labrador who suffers from food allergies. Finding a quality product for an allergy sufferer among super premium foods is easy, but with premium food it is more difficult. But two months ago, on the advice of a friend, I bought hypoallergenic Brit. Jack eats with gusto and often asks for more. There are no problems with stool, allergies do not bother me. I recommend!"
The animal's diet must contain the necessary vitamins and minerals, which is why many dog owners prefer to buy commercial food. When making this choice, you need to take into account that there is a certain norm of feeding dry food. Overfeeding your four-legged friend is highly discouraged: this will have a detrimental effect on his health in the future.
Reviews from veterinarians
I recommend Brit Premium food to my patients. The entire line contains a high content of animal protein, much more than premium analogues, which meets the carnivorous needs of dogs. The composition is not very diverse, but the product line is wide - you can choose it for an animal with almost any problem and age. Added prebiotics and fiber, chondroitin and glucosamine.
What really captivates me about Brit products is the absence of soy, artificial colors and flavors. In the premium category I use this line. If the owners of my furry patients cannot afford more expensive feeding options.
What is confusing is the presence of meat production waste and cheap carbohydrates, to which allergies often occur. But you can’t immediately switch your dog to hypoallergenic food, so he starts choosing a diet from Kea or premium.
Bottom line: excellent combination of price and quality for an average income.
Price
You can now view the current price of food and buy it right here:
You can buy Brit food for cats in almost any pet store or order it online. The average cost of Brit Care dry food for picky cats Cocco is:
- 0.4 kg – from 280 rub.;
- 2 kg – from 910 rub.;
- 7 kg – from 2950 rub.
Food for spayed and neutered cats and Missy cats will cost:
- 0.4 kg – from 260 rub.;
- 2 kg – from 910 rub.;
- 7 kg – from 3095 rub.
In conclusion, we will say that although this food “does not have enough stars in the sky,” it will give odds to many diets from the super-premium segment. Its price category is quite consistent with its quality, and, in our opinion, this menu can be recommended for the daily nutrition of your pet.
Composition analysis
Let's look at the composition using Adult M as an example (food for medium-sized adult dogs). It contains:
- chicken;
- corn;
- wheat,
- chicken fat;
- salmon oil;
- Brewer's yeast;
- dried apples;
- yucca extract;
- herbal and fruit extracts;
- mineral supplements.
Chicken comes first; it is a dietary and very healthy product. The ingredient is rich in proteins, but the problem is that the manufacturer does not indicate what part of the chicken is used for production, and this makes you wary. Corn and wheat also occupy high positions in the composition, which means there are quite a lot of them in the feed.
Chicken fat and salmon oil are sources of fatty acids that are beneficial for the coat. Brewer's yeast contains B vitamins, and apples are a source of fiber. It is not clear what is meant by “herbal and fruit extracts”, as not all herbs/fruits are beneficial for dogs. Yucca extract is a good addition and helps reduce the harshness of fecal odor.
Owner reviews
We immediately decided that we would feed the dog ready-made food - it’s convenient and we don’t need to think about additional vitamins. We went to the vet for advice. We were advised to choose from Pro Plan, Monge and Brit. It didn’t work out with other foods. But our dachshund really likes Brit, especially with lamb and rice. Our dog is now 8 years old and was recently switched to a specialized product for older dogs. She rarely gets sick here, I think this is largely the result of good food.
We selected food for the Stafford based on cost and quality. We tried to feed him natural food, but often had stomach problems. There was often diarrhea. The vet recommended Brit for sensitive digestion. The food worked well, the problems with the gastrointestinal tract stopped, the coat stopped shedding and became shiny. The price is more than reasonable - the dog is large and needs a lot of food.
