First lesson

The dog is taught to sit quietly in a separate room at home. They bring the pet into the room, leave and close the interior door. They stand not far from her - as soon as the dog whines, they express dissatisfaction with a cry. They scream immediately when they hear whining - if even a few seconds pass, the pet will not understand why he is being scolded.

"The Coming and Going Master"

In order for the dog to understand that he is being abandoned for a short time, he will have to try, give his best. But it's worth it. Usually it takes a week to wean off howling if you practice every day.

Start getting dressed, sit at home watching TV in your clothes, and then just change into your home clothes. Let the dog understand that you will not necessarily leave, even if you get dressed, this way you will teach the dog to hug your feet and follow you while you are getting ready.

When the first stage is completed, move on to the next one: get dressed, go out the door, go down to the floor below. Wait five minutes and return home. If the animal howls, then calm it down; if not, praise it. Each time, increase the time of absence by a couple of minutes, and so on until the howling stops. The dog will quickly understand that if you leave, you will definitely come back.

Folk signs

There are a lot of folk beliefs about dog howling, and some of them may contradict others. Some resulted from random coincidences, while others have a completely adequate scientific explanation.

If a dog howls at the moon at night, it was considered a sign of a change in the weather.
A dog howls at a house - to a fire.
If the dog howls with his head down, there is a dead person in the house. If a dog howls while lying down, it has a presentiment of its own death.
The dog howls, holding his head straight - to hunger, pestilence or war.
A pack of dogs howling means big trouble.

Whining for no reason

If your dog constantly whines for no apparent reason, and the factors listed above do not explain what is happening, he may have health problems. The most common explanation is various kinds of pain, in which the dog often twitches in his sleep and whines, and during periods of wakefulness he becomes less active, sometimes the temperature rises and rapid breathing appears. Depending on the location of the pain, other symptoms appear:

for problems with the paws - lameness or unnatural position of the limbs;
for problems with the ears, tilt the head to the affected side;
If you have stomach pain or dental problems, refuse to eat.
