pharmachologic effect

After reading the instructions for using Caforsen for cats, it becomes clear that the homeopathic remedy has different effects on the animal’s body: regulates the content of microelements (calcium, silicon, magnesium and others); stimulates bone cell growth; promotes the restoration of bone and cartilage tissue; improves metabolism; maintains elasticity and increases bone strength. Caforsen belongs to the group of low-hazard drugs because it does not accumulate in the liver. The components of the medicine are not able to irritate the receptors of the cat’s body; on the contrary, they compensate for the lack of microelements, which are sometimes too small for the normal functioning of internal systems. The pharmacological effect begins after a period that depends on the method of entering the composition into the pet’s body: After the injection, the components quickly penetrate the animal’s bloodstream and spread throughout the body. The penetration of active substances into the blood by consuming a tablet or oral solution is longer, because in this case the medicine begins to dissolve only in the intestines. The therapeutic composition is excreted through the kidneys. The active components completely leave the body a day after entering the blood.

Indications for use

Caforsen can be prescribed to cats of different ages; most often they need the drug:

  • Pregnant and lactating cats.
  • Kittens are in the period of active growth, during the change of teeth.
  • Older cats (7 years and older).
  • Animals whose breed is genetically prone to mineral metabolism disorders.
  • Having suffered trauma, stress.
  • Cats with osteomalacia (softening of bone tissue with a decrease in its mineralization).
  • Patients with osteodystrophy.

Caforsen also provides reliable prevention of rickets in kittens and is used as part of a general complex treatment for fractures, ruptures and sprains of ligaments, cracks and dislocations to regulate metabolic mechanisms. Caforsen has proven itself well for cats as a drug aimed at preventing eclampsia (a sharp, severe increase in blood pressure) in pregnant and recently given birth females.

Instructions for use

According to the instructions for use, carefully included in each package of Caforsen, the injection solution is administered orally. Injections are placed under the skin or into a muscle. The tablets must be swallowed whole. If the cat cannot swallow the medicine at once, it is crushed and mixed with food. You can also dissolve the crushed tablet with warm water, but in this case you should make sure that the pet drinks the entire calculated dose. Giving an oral solution is easiest. After all, the packaging is closed with a dropper stopper. Using a dispenser, it is convenient to measure the required amount of the drug. The medicine is prescribed to pets in the presence of pathologies: rickets; osteodystrophy; fractures and cracks of bones (in combination with other drugs). Caforsen is also given to cats for preventive purposes during pregnancy. The composition is also suitable for growing and elderly individuals. It would be useful to take the product by animals that have a predisposition to impaired mineral-salt metabolism.

Composition and action

The active ingredients of Caforsen are mineral supplements. In the homeopathic remedy:

  • calcium carbonate;
  • phosphorus;
  • calcium phosphate;
  • calcium fluoride;
  • silicon.

Caforsen is prescribed to regulate mineral metabolism. It provides the animal’s body with important micro- and macroelements.

Calcium is the main building material in the animal’s body. It is necessary not only for puppies during the period of active growth and development. In addition to the fact that its deficiency can lead to rickets, it is necessary:

For normal blood clotting; excitability of the nervous system; muscle contractility.

Calcium

– these are strong bones, which is especially important for large breed dogs that have strong bones. With calcium deficiency, the joints cannot withstand the load and become fragile. In puppies, microelement deficiency causes growth retardation and late teeth change.

Many dog owners believe that their pets get enough calcium from food, but there is little of it in natural products: to meet the body’s daily need for the mineral, the dog will have to eat 30 kg of meat per day! If a dog is fed natural food or unbalanced food, it does not receive the required amount of calcium.

Important! Calcium is absorbed in the body only if vitamin D and phosphorus are present in the diet or mineral supplement in certain quantities.

The second most important element is phosphorus. It not only helps to absorb calcium - it is the correct ratio of the two microelements that ensures a strong skeleton. But phosphorus is also necessary for the life of cells and energy metabolism in the body. It is thanks to it that muscles can contract, nerve impulses are transmitted, and nutrients are transferred through cell membranes.

Phosphorus

— ensures acid-base balance in the body, normal blood pH. During pregnancy, females have an increased need for phosphorus; an increased amount (2 times compared to the normal state) of the microelement is necessary for lactating animals. Natural food does not provide the necessary supply of phosphorus to the body, so it is recommended to give it to the dog additionally in combination with other microelements.

Important! With a deficiency of phosphorus in the body, dogs can develop rickets and osteoporosis.

Silicon

(silicon) - another component of Caforsen - is necessary for the dog’s body for healthy bones, skin, coat and connective tissues. It takes part in many biochemical reactions that occur in a living organism, in addition, it is a good adsorbent and helps remove toxins from the body.

In newborns and puppies under one year of age, silicon (organic quartz) plays an important role in the formation of strong and elastic joints, muscles and tendons. It promotes the transport of nutrients throughout the organs and tissues of the body.

Important! After two years, silicon ceases to be produced in the body, which leads to age-related changes.

Caforsen contains the most important components, which are:

  1. Regulate phosphorus-calcium and silicon metabolism;
  2. Increases the elasticity of connective tissue; stimulate tissue regeneration in case of injuries of the joint-muscular system.

Dosage

The dosage is determined by the weight of the cat and the chosen method of using the drug: the intramuscular solution acts faster and more efficiently, as it goes directly into the bloodstream. Per kilogram of the cat's weight, take 0.1 ml of medicinal liquid. It is enough to give a Caforsen injection once every 24 hours. The duration of injection treatment depends on the severity of the animal’s condition, and can vary from 1.5 to 3 weeks; A single dose of the tablet form of Caforsen is 1 piece. The medicine is given once a day. Duration of treatment – up to 3 weeks; oral liquid is given to cats once a day for 20-30 days. The dose is measured at the rate of: 1 drop of medicinal composition per 1 kg of patient’s body weight. Usually, one full course is enough to restore the animal. However, if necessary, therapy can be repeated after some time.

Contraindications

Since Caforsen is an absolutely natural drug of homeopathic origin and does not contain artificial components, it has no contraindications or side effects. The only obstacle to the use of the supplement may be individual intolerance by the animal’s body to one or more components of Caforsen. It does not cause addiction or allergic reactions, and can be used as part of complex treatment with other drugs. Does not carry a mutagenic load and is approved for use in pregnant cats. Caforsen was assigned safety class 4 according to GOST 2.1.007-76.

Contraindications and precautions

Contraindications to taking Caforsen include individual intolerance to some of the constituent substances of the drug. No negative manifestations from the body were observed under other conditions. But still, it is recommended to give the composition to lactating cats no earlier than a week after breeding. When treating cats with allergic predispositions, it is also worth taking precautions. If, a few hours or minutes after taking the homeopathic remedy, the cat develops: itching or rash, restlessness or complete apathy, diarrhea or vomiting, you should stop taking Caforsen and carry out symptomatic treatment.

Restrictions

Caforsen has no age-related contraindications; it contains natural ingredients, so the medicine is safe and has no side effects. It can be used in combination with medications from other groups. The only drawback is the need for long-term use.

The only limitation to the use of the drug is individual intolerance to the components. In some cases, allergic reactions occur:

  • redness of the skin;
  • itching;
  • skin rashes;
  • apathy or, conversely, excitement;
  • nausea, vomiting, other gastrointestinal dysfunctions.

If these symptoms occur, you should stop taking the medication and contact a veterinary clinic. An overdose does not cause side effects, but it is not recommended to exceed the prescribed dose.

Storage conditions

Closed vials and packages with the drug Caforsen should be kept in places according to storage conditions: in a darkened room; at temperatures from 0 to 29C; out of the reach of children and animals. Pet owners who prefer to purchase the drug in the form of a solution must comply with one more condition. An opened bottle should be stored according to all aseptic rules for no longer than 3 weeks. Hermetically sealed bottles with liquid contents have a shelf life of 36 months from the date of manufacture. Tablets are stored much longer - 5 years.
