What is Frontline for dogs?
Frontline drops are a new remedy for ectoparasites: insects and their larvae. Due to its effectiveness, the medicine is widely used in medicine, veterinary medicine, and horticulture. The drug works due to a special substance – fipronil. It blocks receptors on nerve cells of parasites. Fleas, ticks of various types and other pests that parasitize domestic animals are susceptible to the influence of this insectoacaricidal drug. Fipronil is harmless for dogs.
Compound
Frontline medication is available in the form of drops, tablets, and sprays. All of them contain fipronil and permethrin as active substances. The tablets additionally contain afoxolaner. Excipients: butylated hydroxytoluene, miglyol 812, N-methylpyrrolidone, copolyvidone, isopropanol and distilled water as a solvent. Country of origin: France. Delivery is carried out regularly throughout the country.
Release forms
As already noted, Frontline is produced in liquid (drops, sprays) or solid form (tablets). Frontline drops are a transparent, colorless or yellowish-brown liquid with a specific odor. They are produced in the form of a ten percent solution for spot use, packaged in polyethylene pipettes. Tablets are available in three or six pieces in blister packs. Frontline spray is packaged in 100 and 250 ml bottles of appropriate capacity with a spray head.
Indications for use
Frontline is prescribed to dogs for the treatment and prevention of entomosis, acarosis caused by ixodid and sarcoptic ticks, complex therapy of allergic dermatitis caused by fleas and lice eaters. Indications for use
All drugs in the Frontline series are prescribed to cure parasites and prevent their infection. So, they help from:
- fleas;
- lice eaters;
- ixodid ticks;
- scabies (sarcoptoid) mites – Spray, NexgarD and Spectra do not work against them;
- lice;
- mosquitoes
The Tri-Act form also has a repellent and insecticidal effect against dipterous insects: mosquitoes, burner flies, mosquitoes. And NexgarD Spectra destroys the larvae of heartworms and gastrointestinal nematodes: toxocara, hookworm, trichocephalosis.

Instructions for use of Frontline for dogs
Depending on the form of release, Frontline against fleas is used both externally and internally. The procedure and rules for applying the drug vary depending on the specific types of drug. Frontline Spray
Not all medications are suitable for treating very small puppies, as well as small dogs. For such cases, Frontline Spray was developed, which is a low-toxic drug. It is safe to use for puppies from two days old and for dogs weighing up to two kg. There are no contraindications for use during pregnancy or during feeding. Even if your pet has previously been allergic to Frontline drops, the spray can still be taken.
Frontline treatment is carried out outdoors or in a well-ventilated area. Open the windows, cover cages with birds and aquariums with fish, if any, with a cloth (the spray is toxic for them). Place a muzzle, neck collar, or otherwise secure the animal's jaw to prevent licking. Remove them only after the hair is completely dry.
When you are finished with all the preparatory procedures, shake the bottle thoroughly and, holding it vertically, press the spray head. Maintain a distance of 20-30 cm from the pet’s fur. The dose of the drug, depending on the length of the animal’s fur, varies from 3 to six ml per 1 kg of weight. It is easy to dispense the spray: one press – 0.5 ml (if the bottle is 100 ml).
Treat the body of the animal, in the direction against hair growth. Then cover the dog’s eyes with your hand and treat the ears and chest. Using gloved fingers, rub the product around the animal's nose and eyes. To prevent re-infestation by fleas, also treat the animal's bedding. Important: do not allow the animal near an open fire until it is completely dry.
Tri-Act
For the control of flying parasites (mosquitoes, gnats and blood-sucking flies), Frontline Tri-Act is a smart choice. It not only destroys parasites upon contact with a dog, but also has a repellent effect - it scares away flying insects. The use of the drug reduces the risk of transmission of vector-borne diseases (babesiosis, anaplasmosis, ehrlichiosis, leishmaniasis). Available without a prescription.
Frontline Tri-Act is administered to animals once externally by spot application to dry, intact skin. The tip of the pipette with the drug is cut off, the animal’s fur is pulled apart and, pressing the pipette, the drug is applied to the skin at two points: at the base of the skull and between the shoulder blades. The dose of Tri-Act is 0.1 ml per kg of animal weight, which corresponds to 6.7 ml/kg of fipronil.

Combo
