Stride Plus: help for diseases of the musculoskeletal system in cats

Stride Plus: composition and release form

The drug is intended for the restoration of cartilage tissue. The composition includes 3 active components: chondroitin, glucosamine and hyaluronic acid. These substances are able to restore joint mobility, accelerate bone tissue regeneration processes and improve metabolic processes in cartilage. Additionally, the medication contains:

  • emulsifier;
  • dye;
  • fiber;
  • ash;
  • sodium;
  • sulfur;
  • complex of amino acids.

The medicine is available in the form of a solution, which is recommended to be kept in a cool place. The period for which the drug can be used is 2 years. 250 ml of solution is enough for a course of treatment.

The drug Stride Plus for cats is used for diseases of the musculoskeletal system

Diseases of the musculoskeletal system, accompanied by the destruction of the cartilage layer, most often occur due to improper feeding of the pet or after injuries. However, such pathologies can also be congenital.

When to use Stride Plus for a dog

If we talk about diseases, the medicine is used for

  • arthrosis and arthritis of various origins, hydrarthrosis,
  • ankylosis of the joints,
  • osteochondrosis of the spine,
  • mild joint dysplasia,
  • periarticular fibrositis,
  • bruises and wounds with and without damage to the joint capsule,
  • osteoporosis in older dogs and rickets in puppies, associated with a lack of vitamins and metabolic disorders,
  • rheumatism and physical inactivity in dogs.

However, if you think that you need to use this remedy only when the disease has already occurred, then you are mistaken. To prevent these diseases, Stride Plus for dogs is also used. The instructions say that at the age of 5-7 years the product can be useful for many animals. Because around this age, joint atrophy and osteoporosis begin, which lead to dogs becoming inactive, and inflammation and pain often occur.

And some breeds, regardless of their size, need to start giving the drug earlier, at about three to four years of age. These include, in particular, the huge St. Bernards, and German, East European shepherds, Labradors, retrievers and small dachshunds.

Operating principle

The active components of this product stop the destruction of articular cartilage. Chondroitin in combination with glucosamine improves joint mobility, restores the layer between them and increases the amount of synovial fluid. Hyaluronic acid helps to hydrate cartilage, which becomes more elastic. The same substance eliminates swelling and has a beneficial effect on the functioning of the immune system.

With arthrosis, cartilage tissue is destroyed and pain appears.

In addition, the drug stimulates the production of collagen necessary for tissue repair. The complex of amino acids accelerates the regeneration processes of destroyed cartilage, improves the general condition of the body and affects metabolic processes.

Cats with joint diseases lose activity and become lethargic. A pet with arthritis may have decreased appetite. In advanced cases, swelling occurs in the area of the problem joint. Unlike humans, symptoms in cats are not as pronounced. It is quite difficult to notice redness and swelling in an animal due to its fur. However, if you lightly press on the problematic joint, the pet will react quite violently. In addition, the animal may periodically raise the sore leg.

Analogues and price of the drug

If we talk about analogues of the drug , then almost any chondroprotector is an analogue of this drug. Some of them were already named at the beginning of the article. Also, a direct analogue of this medicine can be considered the drug Nutri Horse Chondro. But this product was developed not for dogs, but for horses. But often dog owners use it to treat their pets. This remedy also restores cartilage and membranes, as well as tendons, connective tissue and ligaments. A package of such tablets weighing 1 kg costs approximately 4,000 rubles.

As for the drug Stride Plus itself, its average price for a 150 ml package is 1,200 rubles, and a 500 ml package will cost approximately 2,500 rubles. In reviews, many dog breeders call this price quite affordable.

Features of application

It is very easy to use the medicine, because the bottle is equipped with a special dispenser. The solution must be mixed with the pet's food. This product is not used in its pure form. The medication does not have a pungent odor or taste, so treatment is easy.

The medicine should be added to cat food

If your pet needs therapy, I always mix medications with liquid food, not dry food. For me this is the preferred method. At the same time, I add the medicine to a small portion. After the cat eats it, I add more food, but without medication. Usually everything goes well, and the cat does not refuse to eat.

Dosage and treatment regimen

The amount of the drug does not depend on the age and weight of the pet. The dose is standard for everyone. In the first month, use 4 ml of solution daily (just press the dispenser twice). Then the dosage is reduced to 2 ml and treatment is continued for another 4 weeks. The medicine should be given to the pet once a day.

What to do in case of overdose

With a one-time increase in the amount of solution, no negative reactions occur. No overdose symptoms were recorded. However, exceeding the daily amount is not recommended.

Personal safety measures and some rules

It is not necessary to wear gloves when using the drug. The medicine has no toxic effect and is not dangerous to humans. It is recommended to follow the following rules:

  1. The medicine is not intended to treat people. Keep the product away from children.
  2. The solution should not be frozen, otherwise it may lose its properties.
  3. Even with an advanced form of the disease, it is unacceptable to exceed the dosage.
  4. Avoid getting the medicine into your eyes.
  5. Do not forcefully give the drug to your cat in its pure form. Active components are better absorbed with food.

Attention! It is not recommended to transfer the solution from the original bottle.

Dosage

Stride Plus comes in the form of a syrup that is easy to add to your dog's food. One press of the dispenser allows you to dispense 1 ml of medication. The dose depends on the purpose of using the drug:

  • for the prevention of joint diseases: 1 ml for small breed dogs and puppies (up to 5 kg), 2 ml for animals weighing 5-15 kg, 4 ml for large individuals;
  • for therapeutic purposes - the dose is doubled.

The minimum course of treatment is a month, but to achieve and consolidate a noticeable result, it is recommended to give the medicine to animals for at least two to three months, then take a two-month break and repeat the treatment.

Features of treatment of pregnant cats and kittens

The drug can be used to treat pregnant cats. The lactation period is also not a contraindication. However, if possible, it is better to wait until the end of feeding. The product can be given to kittens only after consultation with a doctor. Typically, during this period, degenerative diseases of the joints and spine do not appear in animals.

Kittens can only be given medicine after consultation with a specialist.

During treatment of a pregnant cat, it is necessary to monitor the condition of her body. If your pet’s appetite sharply deteriorates, it is recommended to discuss the advisability of therapy with a veterinarian.

Reviews of the drug Stride plus for dogs

As you probably understand, the larger the breed of dog, the greater the load on its joints and therefore, over time, the cartilage in them wears out, and the dog begins to limp on both legs and, in general, every movement is given to it with great difficulty due to pain. This happened to our dog too. However, Stride Plus helped us overcome this problem. The dog feels much better. Of course, there are cheap domestic analogues of this product, but their effectiveness is noticeably lower. And its price is not so high, because it lasts for a long time. For example, we now drink them constantly, with short breaks, for preventive purposes.

Fedor, Norilsk.

My dog noticed that she was moving her hind legs incorrectly when she was 10 months old. Perhaps it was congenital. We contacted the veterinarian. He diagnosed us with hip dysplasia and prescribed us a vitamin complex for this and injections. But unfortunately, this course of treatment did not produce results. Therefore, I decided to find out from other dog breeders on an Internet forum how they deal with this problem. It was there that I learned about the drug Stride Plus, which helped us very quickly. Now I decided to write about this tool.

Ekaterina, Maykop.

I got my Rottweiler from a kennel.
However, problems with joints began almost immediately, although we even won a children's exhibition. Dog breeders we know advised us to drink Stride Plus. But I ignored all this until the dog’s gait changed and he was diagnosed with hip dysplasia. Since the price of the drug seemed high to me at first, we initially tried to use other means, but our condition worsened even more. And then I came to the conclusion that the price of 3 thousand rubles for 500 ml of product is not so expensive, and I switched to Stride Plus. He helped us quickly. And now we drink it twice a year in courses of three months as a preventive measure. Margarita, Vorkuta.

Side effects and contraindications

The drug can be used to treat sick, weakened and old animals. The solution has no contraindications. The only caution is hypersensitivity to the components. In most cases, negative symptoms do not occur during treatment. However, allergic reactions in the form of skin itching and rashes may rarely occur.

In isolated cases, the cat may experience itching during treatment.

Although the solution is well tolerated, you need to monitor your pet's reaction during treatment. If no negative symptoms occur during the first week, then you can safely continue therapy. If appetite worsens and itching occurs, you should stop treatment and consult a doctor.
