Hello. Last year I got a pug =) At first I fed him natural food, but not for long. Then we spent a long time selecting dry food, having tried Grandorf, Acana, Trainer, Barking Heads. We stopped at the last one.
For the first time, the food attracted attention by the appearance of the packaging, I began to choose something without chicken, and settled on salmon with sweet potato. It turned out that the food had a very good composition, a lot of protein. I took a 2 kg package, the price was 1358 rubles.
The puppy liked the food when, during the transfer process, I mixed it with the old one - I chose granules of the new one. It's been over a month since I've been eating it on a regular basis. The stool is formed and without a pungent odor, there is no allergy. I definitely recommend Barking Heads food.

I would like to share a review of Barking Heads dry food with lamb for dogs with problem coats. I took it as a replacement for one that my dog stopped eating. The ingredients are good - freshly cooked lamb 26%, dried lamb 20%, brown rice, sweet potatoes, etc. In general, this food is considered holistic.
The food granules are small, great for small dogs. Not greasy, don't crumble. My Yorkie eats well, doesn’t refuse like the Canadian GO. Barking Heads, by the way, are British-made. The smell of the food is quite pleasant.
Packaging 1.5 kg with zip lock, convenient. The price is also reasonable. I’m also pleased with the large assortment of flavors, there’s plenty to choose from, we’ll try others later. Overall, I am happy with the food and so is the dog.

Hi all! We switched to dry food from natural food after the dog started having problems with the gastrointestinal tract. We started with Hills Prescription Diet, but problems persisted, so we decided to try foods with higher nutritional value.
First there was Grandorf, then Now, Acana, now Barking Heads. The dog ate them all with great pleasure, but the digestive system reacted differently to each. So far there have been no negative reactions to Barking Heads, no stomach grumbling, no vomiting.
A bag weighing 12 kg is enough for a month. The cost is 6,200 rubles, but with discounts and bonuses it comes out cheaper. The only negative is that the big bear does not have a clasp, so you have to pour the food into an airtight container.
Feed range
The Barkin Heads line includes dry and wet food. They are divided into:
- grain-free (with sweet potatoes);
- cereals (based on brown rice).
There is also a division by age:
- for pets up to one year;
- for adult animals;
- for elderly pets.
There are also different proposals for breed size. The manufacturer offers separate diets for:
- large dogs;
- small breeds.
So, Barking Heads presents the following range of dry food containing grain:
- For pets up to one year old, “Puppy Days” and “Big Footed Baby” (for large breeds) have been developed; they are based on chicken, salmon and rice.
- “Tender Care” is offered to dogs over a year old with unstable gastrointestinal tract function. The composition contains chicken meat and rice. There is a separate version of the same food for small and decorative pets.
- “Fuss around the bowl” is intended for pets over a year old who are picky eaters. Made with salmon and sweet potatoes.
- “Losing Fat Dog” – for dogs that are overweight or have unstable gastrointestinal tract function. It claims to contain less fat and more protein than other foods.
- “Luxurious hair” is considered hypoallergenic. Prevents excessive shedding. Contains lamb, rice and a large amount of fatty acids. There are options for small-footed and large-footed ones.
- "Chicken for the big-footed." Chicken and rice base for large dogs from one to 7 years old. Designated as hypoallergenic.
- “Golden Years” is intended for pets over 7 years old and is based on chicken and rice. Contains more protein components and less carbohydrates than other foods.
The cost of grain feed for a bag weighing 2 kg is from 1,150 to 1,500 rubles.
Barkin Heads offer a line of grain-free food:
- Puppy Days is made with salmon and sweet potatoes for pets up to one year old.
- "Mallard". Food with duck and sweet potatoes for pets over 12 months old. A separate option for small-footed animals has been proposed.
- "Yummy fish." Protein food (based on 50% fish) without carbohydrates with antioxidants. Rice is replaced with sweet potato. Suitable for adult pets of any breed.
- " Peerless Turkey" Turkey and sweet potato base, suitable for pets over 12 months of age.
The price of grain-free food ranges from 1,400 to 1,800 per 2 kg.
The manufacturer has developed wet food for dogs, the range of which is the same as the line of dry food. The cost of canned food is 260-300 rubles per can weighing 400 g.
Barking Heads offers a huge range of dog food. The division is made not only by the age and breed of the pet, but also by composition and different tastes. We have also developed a line of food for dogs with special needs: problems with the gastrointestinal tract, hair loss and a tendency to gain excess weight. This number of options allows dog owners to choose the most suitable food for their pet’s health.
How to give it to a dog?
Proper nutrition is not only a good choice of food. This concept also includes the correctly selected portion size, the number of feedings per day, the place and time of the process.
Not everyone knows that a pet should eat after a walk, and not before it. To ensure comfortable digestion, rest, not activity, is required. You need to choose a convenient bowl, place it on a special stand, and not on the floor. Clean water should be placed nearby. At the end of the process, the plate should be removed so that the dog knows that food is being received at a certain time.
For adult dogs
Let's look at the basic rules:
- The food should be at room temperature. The dog should not be overfed. Mild malnutrition will not cause weakness, but excess weight reduces the quality of life and negatively affects its duration.
- The best option: the pet has eaten its portion, licks the plate and leaves. If he stays near the bowl for a long time and eats crumbs from the floor, it’s worth adjusting his diet a little. You need to increase the dosage from the next feeding. You should not do this right away, as your pet will always ask for more.
- If your dog refuses to eat, it is important to find out the reason. The food may have spoiled or the previous portion was too large. You should not force your pet to eat or try to bring food from your hand. The pet will not refuse in this case, but this behavior means that it is better for the body to remain in a hungry state.
- If you skip one meal, there is no need to worry; if you miss two, you should show it to the veterinarian and find out the reason for your poor health. This may be a sign of illness. An adult should be given food 1-2 times a day.
For puppies
Babies eat much more often - up to 6 times a day. Let's consider how much to feed a growing dog per day:
- 1-2 months – 6 times;
- 2-4 months – 5 times;
- 4-6 months – 4 times.
When buying a puppy, you should ask the breeder about its usual diet. At first, you need to provide him with the same conditions. The transition to Barking Herds food must be done gradually, otherwise the baby may develop serious illnesses.
Feed composition overview
Barkin Heads food claims to be holistic, which means it contains exclusively natural ingredients . At the beginning of the list in all options is a meat or fish ingredient (lamb, chicken, salmon, duck, turkey). In dry food the percentage of its content is 50-60%, in canned food it is about 80%.
In grain feeds, dark or white rice is offered as carbohydrates, which has a beneficial effect on the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract and has sufficient nutritional value.
Also contains vegetables, vitamins and beneficial microelements.
Barkin Heads do not contain GMOs, dyes or flavors. Does not contain soy, beets and corn (the most useless ingredients that cause intolerance).

Reviews from veterinarians and buyers about the food
Dog owners and veterinarians often share their opinions about the pet foods they use.
Owner reviews:
- Alexey, pug owner:
“Thanks to this food, my dog eats better than me. We chose lamb-based food, which, in my opinion, is initially richer in composition than other types of meat. The transition to it went well, the dog eats it without problems. I like the composition and feed, and the fact that it can be purchased at any large store. I can’t say anything about allergies; we don’t have them and haven’t had them with any of the other brands we’ve tried. No.
- Lyubov, husky owner:
“At first I was attracted to the store by the bright, funny packaging. Out of interest, I looked at the composition and liked it. It’s also good that there is a separate diet for older dogs. I bought “Golden Years” for my dog, it fits perfectly. We tried to take the duck - I didn’t really like it, I ate it, but without appetite. Fish is also not our option, the rings crumble and fall out of the mouth. The price of the food, of course, is steep, but when compared with competitors, it’s normal.”
Reviews from veterinarians:
- Victor, veterinarian with 9 years of experience:
“I consider Barkin Heads food to be the standard. Both wet and dry food have no complaints regarding their composition and nutritional properties. They are close to the food of predators; on them, the condition of the pets quickly returns to normal. The shape and texture of the granules in one package are different, which gives the effect of natural teeth cleaning. I highly recommend this food to owners during post-operative and recovery periods.”
