| Description: | The kennel has been engaged in the Whippet breed (small English greyhound) since 2006, and its breeding since 2010. We have had dogs in our family since 1990; Russian greyhounds became the pioneers in the world of dog breeding for us. We are immensely grateful to them for how they changed our lives, which since then we cannot imagine without dogs. During the period between Russian greyhounds and whippets, we managed to be the happy owners of an Italian greyhound - a small Italian greyhound. This is a charming, fragile creature, sociable and humane. But with the advent of the first whippet, Athena, we realized that this was our breed - in all respects. Optimal size, ideally adapted to life both in the city and outside the city, quite hardy, moderately active, clean, athletic, fast, in need of human contact, the most comfortable companions. Thanks to Athena, and then her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, we visited many different countries and places on the globe, met many amazing and wonderful people whom we probably would never have met if we had not once been connected by “kinship” by dogs.:) This breed opened up a whole new world to our family. And we are happy to share part of it with new people who want to buy a puppy from us. From the very beginning, we determined for ourselves that we would not make litters every year, so it was important to consolidate the reputation of “rarely but accurately”, devoting a lot of time to work, proper breeding of dogs and caring for them, building their show and sports careers. We consult and cooperate with foreign colleagues, selecting a mate for our bitches, giving preference to reliable European lines (Italy, England, Sweden). And we are ready to travel long distances when doing out-breeding, because we strive to get really high-quality, purebred Whippet puppies, healthy physically and mentally, who will be long-awaited and loved in their families. |

History of the breed and its origin
The British Isles are considered the birthplace of this breed. The Greyhound was first bred , but its maintenance was not cheap. Therefore, another breed was developed - the Whippet. The breeders jokingly called him “the poor man’s greyhound.”
Most likely, this miniature greyhound was descended from a cross between a Greyhound and a Bedlington Terrier.
The first owner of the whippet in Russia was Tsar Peter I. A stuffed animal of this dog is in the Zoological Museum of St. Petersburg.
Russian empresses were also connoisseurs of these greyhounds.
True, the whippet was more often just a companion dog, and was not used for its intended purpose for hunting game.
At the end of the 80s of the last century, several purebred whippets were brought to the USSR, which gave rise to their mass breeding.

But one of the most common diseases of greyhounds, hip dysplasia, is very rare in representatives of this breed.
The small English greyhound does not tolerate anesthesia well.
