Types of diets for dogs Brit Care
Brit Care dog food has been produced by a Czech company for several years, it belongs to the super premium class, and there are hypoallergenic feeding options. The main feature of the diets is the absence of cereals, flavorings, and chemicals.
The food is sold in the form of:
- dry croquettes 1, 3, 7.5, 12 and 18 kg;
- wet canned food 400 g.
Only animal protein is used in the diet, not plant protein, because it is absorbed faster and does not cause allergies and obesity.
The main component of Brit Care dog food is meat, from 40%; the following components can also be found in the composition:
- meat meal and offal;
- probiotics;
- fatty acid;
- fruits and vegetables;
- medicinal extracts of some plants, phytocomponents;
- Brewer's yeast;
- dried apples;
- beet juice;
- chondroitin;
- vitamins.
It is also important that the manufacturer does not use meat such as pork or beef, because it is poorly digestible, rich in heavy proteins, and causes allergies.

Feed composition overview
The composition of Brit Care feed inspires confidence. The first ingredient in all feeds is the protein ingredient. Its percentage is 32-35% (in Endurance - 46%) and is mainly meat, not offal. This is definitely a good result.
- Rice or potatoes serve as carbohydrates in grain-free formulas.
- The composition does not contain any corn or wheat, which are common causes of allergies and do not provide any nutritional value or benefit to the pet’s body.
- Next in the feed comes chicken and fish oil. The average fat percentage is about 15%.
- In addition, the composition contains fruits, vegetables and plant extracts that provide fiber and a complex of vitamins to animals.
- The nutritional composition and set of microelements indicate the balance of the feed and allow it to be called complete.
What diet should you buy for your pet?
Brit Care dog food includes several nutrition options: for puppies, for adult dogs, for large and giant breeds, for medium and small dogs, for older dogs, for inactive pets, for allergy sufferers and those prone to obesity.
For puppies
The line for puppies is based on rice and dietary chicken, and also contains a lot of vitamins, calcium and phosphorus for the development of the pet’s brain, digestive system and bones. Fatty and lactic acids improve digestion.
The following food options are available:
- for small dogs weighing up to 10 kg;
- for medium animals up to 20 kg;
- for large dogs up to 40 kg;
- for giant pets weighing more than 50 kg.
It is important that the puppy series from Brit Care can be suitable for pregnant and lactating bitches, because the components of the diet contribute to the development of the puppy in the womb.
For mature and aging pets
The Premium Adult line is the most popular among diets for adult pets, with ingredients such as rice and chicken. This food can be given from one to seven years of age.
Premium Senior is designed for older pets over the age of eight years. It contains a lot of chondroitin, calcium and probiotics to improve digestion and strengthen ligaments. The line is also divided by size: large, medium, small and giant.
Series for dogs with special needs
Hypoallergenic, grain-free food includes Lamb & Rice food, used to treat dermatitis, allergies, and digestive disorders. The basis of the food is lamb and rice; food can be given to all pets, regardless of age.
If your pet doesn’t move much or is obese, you should choose Premium Light food, low in fat, carbohydrates and proteins. For very mobile, active pets, for those who are exposed to constant physical activity or have undergone surgery, Premium Sport food is suitable.
Don't forget that food from Brit is divided into two types: Kare and Premium. In the first case we are talking about super premium class in white packs, in the second – about premium class in blue packs.
We look at the “main” Brit products
The first ingredient of this food is lamb flour, there is quite a lot of it here - as much as 45%. It is a good source of animal protein, but is the only true meat component of this food. There are no raw, let alone fresh meat and fish ingredients in the diet.
Ingredient No. 2 is rice, it contains 30%. The grains in the food are not healthy for dogs, but at least rice is the only source of carbohydrates and vegetable protein. As a review of the composition of Brit Care Puppy All Breed Lamb & Rice shows, there are no other grain additives here.
The manufacturer indicated the proportions of the main components of the product. It can be seen from them that the basis of the diet is precisely its first two components, therefore the evaluation of the Brit Kea Pappy food with lamb and rice was carried out only on these first two ingredients, which is logical, since there are incomparably fewer other ingredients here.
Reviews of Brit Care dog food
Marina: We only saw Brit Kare in stores, which belongs to the super premium category, we consulted a doctor, she said that the food was not bad. So we decided to buy it for testing. The dog has been eating for two years now, and neither he nor we have any complaints. It’s just that the food suits some, but some don’t like it, it’s more a matter of taste.
Artyom: We use only the hypoallergenic line, because our Chihuahua constantly suffers from dermatitis, an upset stomach, or rather, he was sick. Because after feeding Brit Kare, these problems disappeared, and the dog’s general condition and activity became better. The veterinarian says that you can continue to give food, just combine it with canned food.
Sasha: We have been giving Brit Kare since the birth of our Luke, we just change the lines and flavors, sometimes we add canned food to the diet to improve his appetite. We have never encountered diseases or even allergies in a dog, so we will not change the diet. Plus, the price is very reasonable!
Reviews from veterinarians and buyers about the food
Dog owners and veterinarians often share their opinions about the pet foods they use.
Owner reviews:
- Maria, owner of the spaniel:
“About six months ago I was given a spaniel, I immediately decided that I would only feed him food; I didn’t have time to cook for the dog.
First, I asked the breeder what she was feeding, so I fed the baby Royal Canin for another 2-3 months. But then I started to understand its composition and decided that the price was a little expensive for a non-super food. After a long search, I chose Brit Kare with lamb. The transition went well. We’ve been eating it for several months now, and I’m more than satisfied with the food!”
- Irina, owner of a mongrel dog:
“I have a mongrel Lucky who weighs about 10 kg. I spent quite a long time selecting food for her, and in the end the choice fell on Brit Kare. The main thing I paid attention to was that there was no corn or wheat in the ingredients, there was a lot of meat, and of course, an adequate price.
Now we are taking food for adults with lamb M. The granules are of normal size, about 1 cm in diameter, and do not smell much. The dog eats these crackers with pleasure.
I recommend this food with a clear composition and a reasonable price!”
Reviews from veterinarians:
- Stanislav Viktorovich, veterinarian, Moscow:
“I believe that Brit Care is one of the best foods in the super-premium segment with an optimal price-quality ratio. The manufacturing company has long established itself among experienced breeders; many nurseries give preference to it.
The Czech company offers diets for various breeds, ages and health status of the pet. The composition contains a decent percentage of meat content, and also contains a complex of vitamins, microminerals and amino acids.”
Reviews from owners on forums:
What does it contain?
Unlike economy-class feed, Brit contains only high-quality ingredients. It contains no GMOs, synthetic substances, soy, beef or pork. The dog gets complete protein from chicken or lamb. There are options with duck, salmon or venison. Each pack of Brit food contains at least 40% of these components.
To provide the animal with carbohydrates, rice, wheat or corn flour is added to the feed. In addition, there is chicken fat and salmon oil, which contains fatty acids necessary for wool and the functioning of the nervous system. Strengthening the dog's immunity is ensured by herbal extracts, dried fruits and vegetables.
Beet pulp ensures proper functioning of the animal's intestines, and yucca extract neutralizes the smell of feces. In addition, some varieties contain chondroitin and glucosamine, which ensure normal joint function. These features provide many positive reviews of Brit Premium dog food. It is popular due to its rich composition. It may include the following components:
- vitamins B, A, tocopherol, ascorbic acid;
- copper, calcium, zinc, potassium, selenium, phosphorus, magnesium and other minerals;
- dried apples, potatoes, cranberries;
- Brewer's yeast;
- proteins and amino acids.
Assortment of food for adult dogs
This food is intended for animals from 1 to 7 years old. The entire range of Brit food has 4 varieties:
- for small breeds weighing up to 10 kg;
- medium dogs - up to 25 kg;
- animals from 25 to 45 kg;
- large breeds, when the dog weighs more than 45 kg.
Each group has several food options to suit every taste. This is food with chicken, lamb and rice, salmon, duck, rabbit. Often dog breeders choose Brit food for their dogs. Reviews from veterinarians also note that this is the most suitable food for a healthy animal. The main thing is to choose the right option based on the age and weight of the dog.
Brit Premium Dog Lamb & Rice: overall characteristics
In general, the basis of this diet is raw lamb combined with rice and fat (chicken and salmon). Perhaps Brit Premium Dog Lamb & Rice is suitable for dogs with allergies and sensitive digestion, because the sources of animal protein here are limited to lamb (No. 1), and the most common allergens are not in the food: chicken derivatives, corn, soy.
But we still adhere to the opinion that it is much better when there are more meat components in the diet, and there is a minimum or no grains at all. As for “Brit Premium”, it is somewhere in the “middle of the road” in our rating - which means that the manufacturer has room to strive.
Puppy food
The nutrition of a growing body must be enriched with vitamins and minerals, and have a sufficient amount of protein and carbohydrates. Brit dog food meets these requirements. Reviews from veterinarians note that after transferring a puppy from mother's milk to dry food, this food is one of the best. It takes into account the characteristics of breeds: there are varieties for small, medium, large and giant dogs.
The optimal combination of calcium and phosphorus ensures proper growth of the baby's skeleton, and fatty acids and vitamins strengthen the immune system. Puppies develop correctly and gain weight quickly. The company offers “lamb and rice” or “chicken and rice” flavors for puppies of different breeds. This composition makes this food also suitable for feeding pregnant animals. It ensures optimal development of babies.
Rice with lamb - for dogs with allergies
The second place in the diet is occupied by rice - the cereal is certainly not the worst among grains, but also not so valuable for dogs to include it in the basis of the diet. In addition, the number 4 position in Brit Premium Dog Lamb & Rice is taken by rice protein, that is, vegetable protein isolated from rice.
The simplest analysis convinces us that we are most likely faced with a marketing “split” of ingredients (of plant origin). It is quite possible that the total volume of rice derivatives exceeds 31% (this is exactly what we remember the dosage of lamb), so they were artificially separated in the list of ingredients in order to bring the source of animal protein to the first place.
The combination of lamb with rice is a traditional diet for allergic animals and those experiencing skin problems. These two ingredients together are believed to have a beneficial effect on dogs and cats in this situation. In addition, the formula of the Brit Premium hypoallergenic food does not contain many different components, and this is good. Many owners choose these foods to avoid, for example, chicken and corn in their pet's diet.
Prebiotics and other beneficial supplements
The food also contains isolated prebiotics: fructo-oligosaccharides, mannan-oligosaccharides and inulin, which contribute to the correct balance of intestinal microflora.
Yucca Schidigera is designed to reduce the unpleasant odor from animal feces. But we must adjust the description of another Brit Care supplement for puppies. The manufacturer designates milk thistle (milk thistle) as a component that has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, and even indicates its dosage in the diet.
In our opinion, both thistle and extracts from herbs and fruits (rosemary, cloves, citrus fruits, turmeric) are more appropriate to consider here as natural sources of antioxidants that prevent feed spoilage than components that are truly beneficial for animals. There are very few of these additives in dry food, but it’s good that it is preserved with natural ingredients.
